Darn blog ratings

I read Gina's blog post yesterday about someone giving not a 5 out of 5 ratings on the topdigiblogs.com thing. So I go there today and I have someone who posted a 4 out of 5 for mine too. Yunno, I think the whole rating thing should go out the window. These are not stores where people post ratings because they got poor customer service and never got their links, etc. These are blogs and I think that the ratings will be showed by daily views and average views. And a lot of these blogs are designer blogs and there is too much of a window for someone to just post a crappy rating on yours for the wrong reason and make you look lamo. Just is crappy to be honest. Now all who look at my blog on the list see a lower rating. Fine. I mean this isn't the most exciting blog out there but I have some friends who read everyday and keep up with the boring goings on of my life. So if you are one of those friends lol go rate me a 5 out of 5 and just pretend I am super cool just so I don't have to feel the agony of looking at that 4 out of 5 everytime lol. Carrie darling, I love you you know that, but you should just ditch the ratings thing all together!

you know the whole thing is just rather silly- I know I'm not judgeing anyones blog by their rating. I think people are turning it into something important and competitive - which is a big shame.

I've actualy just gone through some of the blogs who had NO little red lights [not even one red light or even one comment/rating] on there listing and actuall visted their blogs, then gone back and more importantly left them a comment when I gave them a little five stars vote.

To me the whole thing is more about just checking out blogs that I may never have come accross before and getting to know more of the vast number of digi girls out there! Not who's got the best rateing or the most number of page views or comments.

And i hope that more people on a whole can focuse on that then who's on first

sorry if I sound mental in my reply - i just hate seeing people focuse in on negatives - KIM you are a wonderful girl and those who know and love you know youre a five star rateing. You SHOULDN'T let ONE person make you feel any agony - after all how important can that one person be next to seven others who don't agree with that one??

I just hate to see people being down on themselves over things like this and I hate it all being so competitive and about how well you are doing being judged by others... ARGh am I makeing any sense??

I know i get caught up in it but I stive to try and look more at the good then the bad and think - hey wahoo someone stoped by and rated me - wow four stars how cool - better then three or two or one... right?!

But what I am also really loveing at the moment is since I started playing around on there looking at other peoples blogs I've found things to comment on [here case in point] and have had people in turn come to my blog and vist and leave me posts also... that's the best bit and will beat any five star rateing any day of the week IMO!

Okay I'll stop now -but remembe YOU ROCK even with only one star because one star still shines brithly [well unitl it implodes but shh we won't go there ;) hehe]

Yeah, I'm beginning to think the whole rating thing should be removed. Leave a comment re: the blog but not a rating. It's great to have all those blogs listed together though! I've found some great girls there!
But that aside, since the rating is there I gave you 5 :)

it's kinda weird to rate a blog. It's the story of a life's experiences and rating that is like rating a person.

Please don't don't take the ratings personally. I isn't or at least shouldn't be a rating of you as a person. And if anyone is rating people, well that person deserves a zero rating!

We love yah

Just FYI...Carrie never meant for the site to be a rating type site. She is trying to figure out how to get the ratings to go bye-bye. She just posted this on 2peas too. :) It's just a place to gather all our digi blogs in one spot. Feel sorry for me. Hardly no one reads mine. Maybe it's 'cause I don't design and I don't give away freebies. LOL!

I was the first to give you a rating at all, so I know it wasn't me! :) YOu know you're a 5 in my book!

Hope your trip is going well. As for Blue Bell icecream, they make the BEST cookies and cream ice cream that I've ever had. That's the ONLY thing I remember liking when I had to go to Texas. :) Yum that sounds really yummy right now! Have some for me too!

I miss you! Can't wait for you to be back home.

It's things like this that seem good in theory, until you start checking on them a few times a day to see how far up or down on the list you have moved. Not good for someone with the jealousy issues that I struggle with. Maybe jeaoulsy is the wrong word, more like inferiority complex. It is so terrible and wrong, but I just can't help but compare myself to others.
BUT I do love the idea in general! I have discovered some new fabulous blogs, some by people who I talk to regularly and didn't even realize they had a blog :) So anyway, I hope you will not let it get to you.

*Coming out of my hole to comment*

I agree with Peta! I don't even care about the ratings...actually I didn't really know what was going on with those. I just added a button to mine to be linked with other bloggers, and I've gone through almost the entire list finding blogs I've never seen before! I don't think it should be a competition!

I'm glad Carrie is getting rid of the ratings. I could not, in good conscience leave anything less than a 5 star rating on anyone's blog. Which then defeats the purpose of a rating system anyway. So for me the whole rating part is pointless. And while I don't enjoy being "ranked" either, I do like that I've gotten a few more readers to my blog ever since I registered there. So it's kind of a catch 22 for me.

Well, regardless of whatever somebody else said, I enjoy reading your blog (especially the new ones where you're sharing much more of your thoughts). I really enjoyed the digression about the idea book. Cool post!

:-) Pretty sure she's intending on removing that - it's on the list! I look at this list as just a great way to keep track without having to keep updating my blog list. Come one everybody! Hehehe. Sorry you got a bad feeling from it. I think I am only a 4 rating too.
